NEWS RELEASE

The Grenada Technical and Allied Workers’ Union finds it necessary to clarify its position on the policy position of the Government to dissolve the Grenada Board of Tourism and to replace it with a Tourism Authority.  This necessity arises out of misleading statements carried by the media in their yesterday news cast.

Amendments to GTAWU Constitution passed by overwhelming vote

Some 35 Amendments to the Grenada Technical and Allied Workers’ Union Constitution was voted on over the last two (2) days in a Union wide vote in which the Amendments were overwhelming passed by those casting their ballot.  A total of 677 workers casted their ballots; 594 workers voted in support of the amendments while eighty-two (82) voted against and one (1) vote was spoilt.

Over two hundred (200) members of the Grenada Technical and Allied Workers’ Union (GTAWU) packed the East Conference Room of the National Stadium yesterday where the 8th Triennial National Conference of the Grenada Technical and Allied Workers’ Union was reconvened.

Launch of Phase 2

The Governments of the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (“ECCU”) are pleased to announce the commencement of Phase 2 of the Policyholders Relief Programme (the “Programme”).  Local BAICO branch offices will receive applications from today.
