PRIME MINISTER INTERVENTION BRINGS INDUSTRIAL ACTION TO AN END

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, 22 DECEMBER 2011- The intervention of Prime Minister Tillman Thomas has led to a breakthrough in the impasse between the Grenada Technical and Allied Workers Union and the management of the Grenada Breweries Limited (GBL).

The Prime Minister on Wednesday held an hour long meeting with representatives of the Union, prior to engaging senior officials of the GBL, to seek a resolution to the impasse.

HUMPHREY IN POLICE DETENTION

President of the Grenada Technical and Allied Workers’ Union is detained in the South St. George Police station following his arrest this morning outside the island’s lone Brewery owned by the Ansa Mcal Group in Trinidad.

National Workers Union of Trinidad & Tobago says end state of emergency

The National Workers’ Union (NWU) calls on the government of Trinidad & Tobago to put an immediate end to the State of Emergency.
The NWU rejects out of hand the government’s stated position that the State of Emergency was imposed to deal with runaway crime. We look upon this as a smokescreen to mamaguy and divert the people.
It is clear that the Emergency was invoked primarily to obstruct and derail the mobilisation by the trade union movement for a general strike.

Tribute to George Alloyscius Joseph

A tribute to the late George Alloyscius Joseph former Shop Steward of GRENLEC and past member of the Management Committee of the Grenada Technical and Allied Workers’ Union.

The Grenada Technical and Allied Workers’ Union conveys its deepest condolences to the family friends and co-workers of Cde. George Alloyscius Joseph.
We were indeed shocked by his passing and joined the workers of the Grenada Electricity Services in saluting his memory, his life and time.

TAWU/NAWASA

TAWU/NAWASA Workers accept 16 ½ % Wage Increase.
Workers at the National Water & Sewerage Authority under the Bargaining Unit of the Technical & Allied Workers' Union voted unanimously in a secret ballot to accept a 16 ½ % wage increase negotiated by the Union.

CCC AGREES TO PARTICIPATE IN TRIBUNAL
In a letter received this morning June 3, from Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) in response to the Union's proposal for a Tribunal to consider the dispute between Government and the Company over preliminary costs and to make recommendations for a resolution.
